Do your duty, cheap little rock ‘n’ roll
do your duty, be loud and satisfy my soul
do your duty, cheap little rock ‘n’ roll
do your duty to my soul
come on, give it all
hey, rock ‘n’ roll, satisfy my soul

1) When I was pretty young
I wanted to live my life and have some fun
wanted to show my parents and my teachers and nearly everyone
that I was not wrong in tryin’ to get away and along
with my own ideas and my own fights and tears

I wanted to be a star, well known in every groupie bar
I wanted to smile the Hollywood smile and ride a Cadillac car
I wanted to be rich and roll the joints as big as fat cigars
I wanted to bring my name up to Venus, Moon an Mars

Do your duty, cheap little rock ‘n’ roll…

2) Little girls and tiny boys, they count their money
and they kiss their toys
gettin’ ready for a concert at night
Al and the Hollywood Rats is the name on the poster with the four little cats
who look like they’ve learned a lot about how to look alright

We are no stars, we’re just a band to play
we like to rock and roll and we love to get payed
tonight we get high on music, so everything’s okay
and tomorrow is just another normal boring day

Do your duty, cheap little rock ‘n’ roll…
