Tree on Green Street

I’d like to be a tree on Green Street
so I could see her every day
I’d see her in the morning on her way to school
and later on her way back home again

1) Yeah, I’d love to be a tree on Green Street
and I’m sure that all the trees on Green Street
have a real good time when she comes passing by

I’d like to be a tree on Green Street…

2) I’d see her feet touch the ground – perfect
see her hair talk to the wind – sweet
see her eyes look – beautiful
see her body – move

I’d like to be a tree on Green Street…

3) But a tree can not talk / but I can
and a tree can not sing / but I can
and a tree can not write love songs and poems / but I can
and a tree can not dress to look especially good
and can not dance and shake his ass / but I can

4) But even though, I’d like to be that tree
although a tree can only stand and look around
but he is a good friend, he won’t let you down
because if you need him, he will always be there
where you expect him to be

5) A tree can only look and fall in love with the things he can see
a tree doesn’t know that there is more, because he’s just a tree
and that’s why he is a happy tree
and I’d like to be a happy tree

6) And I’d like to dedicate this song to a girl who lives on Green Street
and I hope that all the trees on Green Street
start talking to her now
start singing songs for her now
start writing poems, dressing to look especially good
and dancing and shaking their asses for her now
